Poster Making
Posted by DC | Filed under Tutorials
I learnt this in college last year, i thought this might be a good share,
Create a poster with the following specifications-
Size-8 inches by 12 inches
Background color-Red, or a color u prefer
Border color- Yellow or a colour u prefer
Images- Flower with feather option and A Car
A quotation of your own, describing your poster
File>
New>
Preset>
Custom>
Width=8 inches
Height=12 inches
Resolution=72 pixels/inch, if you are going to print this select 300pixels/inch
color Mode-RGB=8 bit if you are going to print this change it to cmyk after finishing your flyer , you can do this by changing the mode
Background Contents=White
Next Press Enter
Next apply red background color
Select the fill bucket option
Select your shade of red by clicking the background and foreground option, change the background color to the shade of red you prefer
Next fill the color
Next select the whole image using the selection tool
Next subtract a selection by clicking the subtract selection option in the top, so that you can apply a border
Next choose what kind of border you want i.e. elliptical, rectangle etc. If you want to apply a shade of yellow click the background a foreground option and change the background color to yellow and apply it using the fill bucket tool
If you want to add a pattern as your border select the stamp stool and choose a pattern which is yellow in color and apply it.
Remember apply either of this on a new layer so that it can be modified later if required also remember to deselect your selection by pressing Ctrl+D
Next open a flower you like, change the feather value to 20 and then start selecting your flower using the Polygonal Lasso Tool
Drag and Drop your flower onto your image, observe that a new layer is created automatically.
Next drag and drop your car remember to keep your feather option to zero.
Next select the text tool and type your quotation, mine is Opposites Attract.
Add a layer style by clicking fx in the bottom right and apply a blending option which you prefer or use one of Photoshop’s defaults.
Now your poster is complete now you can save it in your preferred destination and type of image you want to save it.
Name it flyer1.
Hope you understood this

Some of you might have noticed i make siggies which look something like a whirl pool, its very simple to make it-
Firstly you need to dowload some gradients-
http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/10/24/314174/Gradients.rar
Select a color you like i have taken a mettalic one it called Chrome i think like this
Apply this gradient using the gradient tool horizontally by pressing shift
It should look like this
Next goto Filters>>Render>>Lense Flare
It should look something like this
Under that click the movie prime flare render two of them
Next go to Distort Twirl at keep the angle above 900
If you are not satisfied with the result you can go to render distort ripple n adjust the values.
This is a simple ripple effect.
This is my result
